Correspondence Uncover the late financier and former Trump strategist Ties

Steve Bannon
Bannon was one of the former president's closest strategists prior to stepping down from the administration in 2017

In November 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly Donald Trump's chief strategist, was in the UK to deliver a speech at the Oxford Union.

The speech was interrupted by hundreds of protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Activists delayed my talk I doubt I can catch the plane we r enroute to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "There. Is a gulf air that leaves at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "U r an excellent helper".

These exchanges were released on Wednesday alongside over 20,000 pages from the records of Epstein, the deceased convicted sex offender.

The release by the House oversight committee contains an text conversation where Bannon's name is withheld. Media outlets has been able to establish his involvement by matching the dates, occurrences, and places referenced.

For instance, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from Scotland for the redacted user in the chat, and offers praise their "Oxford speech". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and delivered the talk at the Oxford on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any misconduct, did not reply on the inquiry.

Epstein's Assurance to Bannon

Bannon was one of the president's key advisers in the lead-up to the presidential election and in the early days of his first administration, but stepped down from the White House in 2017.

He has acknowledged he was producing a documentary about Epstein prior to his death and allegedly has approximately 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his podcast earlier this year, he said: "We're going to publish the film, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - early next year."

But the newly released materials suggest Bannon's connection with Epstein went further than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier at times appearing to serve like a aide.

A few days before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "how does it feel to have the highest-paid booking agent in history ".

Bannon thanked him: "You are pretty good assistant", to which Epstein replied "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "AD" in a separate text, Epstein assured Bannon: "I will ensure you're taken care of."

UK Politics Mentioned in Exchanges

The published messages also show Bannon and Epstein discussing UK politics in that year.

On the day of his speech at the Oxford, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit thing this morning with Nigel, Johnson and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a reference to Theresa May, the struggling British leader at the period, he added: "They are trying to proceed. May soon…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "I think remaining as long as you can in the UK. Best-- so others see the commitment of your follow-up."

Shortly after, Epstein inquired: "Can Theresa may remain in power". Bannon answered: "I don't see how BUT the people here have little courage" and added "Boris ; Michael Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - somebody has to step up".

May was finally removed in 2019 after withstanding two votes of lack of support in December 2018.

A representative for the political party told media: "Nigel Farage has not been in a gathering with Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting occurred.

The Congress will vote soon on whether the justice department should make public all its records related to its investigation into Epstein, who died in prison in that year.

Attention in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was renewed this week after the publication of over 20,000 documents from his estate.

A portion of those referenced Trump, who has repeatedly rejected any impropriety. The president was a acquaintance of Epstein's for a long time, but says they parted ways in the 2000s, two years before Epstein was initially charged.
